My Bogart SE system boots up and keeps asking me for my Bogart SE codes and entering it in doesn't work. What should I do?

This could be a response of the system looking for an external device to boot from by accident and seeing it as a device that hasn't had the Bogart software installed. We've seen this happen in a couple of case histories. (note: Also double check your code sheet to be sure the code matches the serial number you see on the screen. It might be a wrong code number got entered.

1. Shut the machine down. Remove all external cables for firewire and USB. Keep it simple. Just have the power, your video output, trackball and keyboard connected. Then reboot. The system should go back to the main menu. Check things out and then reconnect the needed devices.

2. Force power down the machine. Remove the rear power cable and let the machine sit for 20-30 minutes. Then reboot.

3. Try booting up with your Bogart OS CD. Insert the disc into the DVD tray. Force shut down. Then reboot. Let it walk you through the messages to do a system "Update". Be sure when you do this that there aren't any other external drives or firewire devices connected.

4. We've once seen this happen on a test machine where the system just needed to cycle down and reboot a couple of times and then it went away. Weren't exactly sure of the cause on this one.

5. If the problem continues, contact our support line (either email or phone). Be sure to indicate current monitor mode, Bogart SE version, and what it exactly says on the screen.
